L + E

Meet Lisa + Eli! We’re pretty much guaranteeing that you will fall in love with them as you read through their story + swoon over their wedding gallery! These two lovebirds are PRECIOUS and they were so insanely easy to celebrate! Their wedding day couldn’t have been more dreamy. Our Bradford Pear trees were in full bloom, our girl Lauren from Lo & Co Media was the photographer, L was wearing our literal dream dress, and every single detail came together in the most intentional + beautiful way (shoutout to Anna from Confetti + Vow 🤍)!

Here’s their love story - “A sun-loving California girl and a small town, Alabama guy walk into a freshman year date night, 7 years later they will be saying ‘I do’ forever. But it wasn’t the typical love at first sight story… for one of us. Lisa is a true California girl; it is her favorite place on earth where rain is a fable and shoes are optional. This is interesting considering she grew up in Bakersfield (for those not familiar think West Texas but in California). In high school she was fiercely dramatic, opinionated, athletic, and a leader (class president) and always seeking a good time. In many ways so much has changed and not much at all. Eli grew up in Huntsville, Alabama, where country accents are thick and PhDs outnumber the neighboring big city, Atlanta. Sports, school, and friends summarize 98% of Eli’s childhood with the other 2% thinking about those 3 activities. He is a product of the hospitable environment he grew up in where smiles and conversations with strangers are encouraged. From these very different backgrounds we arrived in Fort Worth, Texas, to attend Texas Christian University. At the time we would both say this was happenstance. Looking back, it was God and His goodness. This brings us back to the freshman year date night where Lisa and Eli met. We struck up conversation on the gummy kitchen floor with the music blaring. Lisa then had the very reasonable and innocent idea to move outside to talk so that we could hear each other. Eli thought she was making a move and got very uncomfortable. However, we ended up talking and having a great conversation. Eli, liking another girl at the time, walked away thinking “Wow, that was a great conversation.” Lisa, a lot more hardheaded and good at getting what she wants thought, “I’m going to marry that man one day.” After this conversation we successfully had three and a half years of awkward waves and passing hellos while walking to class. This all changed when Lisa, during the simultaneously heaviest and most beautiful time in her life, started hanging out with the girls in my friend group. She came on the adventurous Spring Break where Luke and Eli almost burned a beach house to the ground (Sorry Scott!). It was here that we got to know each other much better. Lisa’s beauty, wit, spontaneity, and curiosity about life both the people and all the creation that inhabit it became evident to Eli and the inklings of a crush began. On the other side of it, Lisa was crushing but also frustrated, sensibly, that nothing had happened. . . in the past 3 and a half years. We finished senior year with a few dances together in which Eli was trying to figure out whether he had feelings for Lisa and Lisa was trying to convince Eli that he was missing out (Spoiler: He was!). Again, Lisa has a proclivity for being right. One moment, in particular, during this semester captures our relationship. We went to formal together and on the way back Lisa yelled “Pull over” while driving on Interstate 35. Being that this was not the most “efficient” course of action, Eli was slightly hesitant, but not wanting to upset his date, pulled the car over. Lisa proceeded to pour water from her water bottle into a coffee mug lying in Eli’s car and go and pick Texas wildflowers. This moment ignited the thought in Eli’s head that this girl would be a fun friend/partner to navigate this crazy but beautiful world with. After graduation, the two landed in Dallas, admittedly a little begrudgingly. The friendship that had developed just a few months prior would soon take off in the newness of the adult world. It was this friendship that led to a couple of concert “friend” dates that left both confused. It was after the second concert that Eli stopped shuffling his feet and called Lisa to ask her out. The first date was a seamless transition from friend to “more” than friend. Three hours of easy, fun and deep conversation later, we were both convinced that something special was happening. Not to mention, our first date was at Chocolate Secrets, a romantic gem found in Uptown where our wedding rehearsal dinner will take place. Now, two and a half years later we will be saying “I do.” We are truly blessed and cannot wait for a life of adventure, life living in the mundane, and life of everything in between, TOGETHER. God is good and we are so thankful and excited to celebrate with everyone over the wedding weekend!”

One of our favorite things that we hear our couples say about The Emerson is that it feels homey. We want you to walk into your wedding day and the space feel like yours + for you to feel comfortable! Here’s what drew L + E to choosing E - “Honestly, we feel like it was such a blessing from the Lord. We had been having such difficulty finding a venue with our date AND aesthetic. I (Lisa) had seen the Emerson before but thought that our date wasn't available. Eli did one search for a wedding venue after a friend told him that they had looked into it. Turns out y'all did have our date and we were SOLD. The chapel is magical and the reception space is just our personality, we think it's homey, quirky and beautiful, kind of like our relationship.”

Congratulations again L + E! We love + adore you two and hope that marriage has been so insanely sweet! Your wedding was a total dream day that we wouldn’t mind doing all over again! So, just let us know when you’re free + we’ll add it to our calendar. ;) Thank you so much for choosing us to be a part of your big day!
