S + P
Meet Sophia + Patrick! These two are some of the sweetest, most thoughtful, generous, cutest people we’ve come to know + adore! Being a part of their wedding day was a dream come true! We can’t help but smile as we reflect over their BEST DAY EVER + look through their bomb wedding gallery (shoutout to our girl, Mad Shew Media!!!) Their wedding included their adorable pug named Cheddar, a traditional Korean wedding tea ceremony, a baby’s breath floral cloud, the most amazing group of vendors, and so many other wonderful details! There were so many beautiful personal touches dispersed throughout the day. We say this often, but we truly, truly mean it… we are so grateful that we get to be a part of days like this one.
Here’s their love story - “Patrick & Sophia met on Bumble sometime during Covid. Sophia's first message was "Pizza rolls or bagel bites" and Patrick responded with Pizza Rolls - which is engraved on the inside of his wedding band. They met in person on May 23, and instantly clicked. Patrick was dating to find a lifetime partner, and Sophia was still trying to figure it out, but it didn't take her long to realize Patrick is her person. It only took them several dates before realizing that they were going to be best friends and be in each other's lives for a long time. They got engaged January 2, 2022 and married on May 13, 2022, 10 days before their two year anniversary. The short engagement was tough, but Patrick & Sophia knew what they wanted and celebrated their love surrounded by close friends, family, & loved ones.”
When asked what drew them to choosing The Emerson for their big day, S + P said, “The modern contemporary look of the black and white really drew us in, we knew we wanted to go for a black and white color scheme, and The Emerson delivered the perfect blank canvas. Being Dallas natives, we've been to enough farmhouse or glam hotel style venues and it was refreshing to see The Emerson bring its own individuality to the wedding scene. It was also important to us to have an open vendor policy as we wanted to work with specific vendors and bring our own style and touch to our special day. The Emerson gave us that flexibility and opportunity to do just that! The white chapel was also a dream, the frosted windows gave just enough softness and the high ceilings made it feel so dreamy. The most important to us was working with a team that was there to make our dream wedding a reality. The team at The Emerson was so sweet and accommodating, we couldn't have asked for a better group of people to work with!”
It should come as no surprise that there are so many beautiful, memorable moments from S + P’s big day! We loved getting to ask them which moments stood out to them! “It was special for Patrick & Sophia to do our first touch. We went back and forth between a first touch or first look, and we're glad we saved the first look for the altar. Sharing our vows and spending a few minutes together before the rest of our lives are merged together, the first touch will forever be a memorable moment.
“We also incorporated a Korean wedding tea ceremony, called a Paebek, in the reception, which is a unification ceremony, symbolizing the joining of the bride and groom's family. Sophia grew up looking at photos of her parent's Paebek as a child, and was able to carry the cultural tradition. It was great to use the tea ceremony as our pop of color as well, to break the black and white color scheme. It was exciting to show our friends and family a different ceremony that they may not have been exposed to at other weddings.”
We loved, loved, LOVED S + P’s advice for those who are currently planning a wedding! It’s so important to carve out time with your significant other to breathe + be present! “Take time for yourself, have grace for yourself, and to enjoy the day. The wedding day will fly by in a blink of an eye. Patrick & Sophia had time built into our wedding schedule to just enjoy each other's company between each event, to breathe, let our feet rest, and just remember why we're celebrating ourselves that day. Five minutes, here and there was plenty. We snuck our time in after the ceremony once the chapel was empty, before family pictures. We had time after our couple portraits were done to sit down and just breathe together, before our grand entrance. We took a few minutes during the reception to share a drink and a meal before making our rounds. We took time before the tea ceremony to smile at each other. We snuck off for a minute to grab golden hour photos that weren't posed or directed so we can get some fresh air. We made time for each other. Everyone we loved was there to celebrate US and it's important to remember ourselves on our best day ever.”
