K + R
Kathryn + Reid were another one of our snowmageddon couples this year + faced some unpredictable hurdles the week of their wedding, but that did not stop or hinder the sweetness that unfolded during their wedding day! Their love + The Lord’s provision prevailed, and they threw one heck of a party!
Here’s a glimpse into their story – “Reid and I met in high school because we lived in neighboring small towns. Reid likes to say that, “I had no idea who he was in high school,” but I always roll my eyes when he says this! We went separate ways after high school- I moved to Austin and he moved to Lubbock. Reid moved to Austin six years later for a job and ended up following me on Instagram. We went on our first date a week before the world went into lockdown March of 2020. It really cut out a lot of “small talk” since there was no real date opportunities. Lots of dinners at home and plenty of time to talk about God, family, and life. Six months later we were engaged and five months after that we were married!”
“We got married the week of the “Snowpocalypse” in February of this year. There were so many instances where things were going the opposite of right and we just drew close to God and one another. Not having power in your apartment for a week, nail and hair salons being closed, flights being cancelled, bridesmaid’s dress alteration shops being closed until the day before, (and the list goes on and on and on) really made for a very “this day is going to be what we make it” and our wedding was just that – p e r f e c t.”
We never take for granted that we have the honor of hosting so many incredible couples’ wedding days in our space. We LOVE being apart of your love stories. It’s so much fun hearing about the unique ways that you find us! “Reid and I had both been looking at wedding venues separately and when having a real conversation about where we wanted to say “I do”, we both said The Emerson at almost the same time! We really wanted to get married in a chapel and our family and friends were coming from all over, so we decided on a central location to all of them and The Emerson was perfect.”
We all know that wedding planning can be A LOT + it’s easy to get caught up in the millions of details! We’ve seen so much value in couples who choose to stay true to themselves + have fun with the process. Don’t sweat the small stuff! Here’s K’s advice to those who are planning now – “Your wedding day is a day to get married- to commit to one another in front of God and your loved ones. All of the details melt away the moment you see your person at the other end of the aisle. It is so important to keep that in mind and to not let the details of everyone else’s opinions taint this day. It is you and your partner’s day- focus on that throughout the planning process. Oh, and have FUN. Include one another in the planning process and respect each other’s wants!”
Cheers to the Moore’s! Congratulations again, you two! Thank you so much for choosing The Emerson to host such a special celebration of your love for one another!
