H + J
Raw. Beautiful. Intentional. Just a few words to describe Hannah + Jason’s wedding from this past Spring. Each detail was thoughtfully curated + made us feel like we were walking through a garden. It brought our team so much JOY to be able to host this sweet couple’s BEST DAY EVER in our space!
Here’s their story – “Jason and I met in fall of 2019. Our first glance was at our church where he served me coffee! Aside from taking my order his first words to me were “I like your hat.” I then went to sit down in the chairs near the coffee shop and write in my journal. Days went by where I didn’t see or talk to him but we had mutual friends so he found my instagram. Jay and I instantly started talking everyday for weeks and creating a beautiful friendship.. Things were not all sunshine and rainbows as I had just found the Lord. I think the beauty in our relationship in the beginning was that even though I would pull away he never gave up.. not once! I didn’t know how to feel as I had never been pursued by anyone before. To say things were perfect would be untrue – we definitely had our ups and downs but it only made us stronger. Fast forward to almost a year after meeting and we got engaged – some will say it was too soon but when you know you know. I never understood that until I was in that situation myself. Jason is the most admirable person that I know and it has been an honor being married to him. Everyday we learn more and more about each other and it’s amazing!”
H’s response to when we asked what drew them to choosing The Emerson to host such an important day made our hearts warm! “I did someone’s wedding hair right before COVID had shut the world down and fell in love with the venue. I honestly thought that I would not get the opportunity to get married somewhere as elegant and beautiful! I was telling Jason all about it and he let me know that our friends had actually gotten married there. At this time we were not engaged or in particularly discussing marriage so we put it on the back burner. Time went by and he popped the question! That is when the planning madness began. We went back and forth on whether we wanted a small group wedding, elopement, or big wedding – we finally came to the conclusion of wanting a bigger wedding. Emerson was definitely our first choice but we just weren’t sure if we could make it happen.. a few months rolled around and we were able to book our spot with Emerson, and it was the best decision we made for our wedding. When we visited the venue we had the most lovely experience! It smelt so magical when you first walked in.. the grass was such a lovely green, and how light and delicate it felt was everything we could have hoped and dreamed of for what we were going for aesthetically. The staff at Emerson gave us a feeling of what we wanted for our big day! They were intentional and so caring about what we wanted.”
Time and time again, we are hearing from our couples that chose to share a first look before the ceremony that it was one of their favorite moments from their wedding day. It’s such a sweet, intimate opportunity to see + hold one another before you exchange your vows. Here’s a glimpse into what that moment looked like for H + J – “Our favorite part of the wedding was our first look. We read our vows in private and got to see each other after not seeing each other all day! Doing this really helped us feel more at ease because we were both so nervous. I especially was shaking the whole time before and once I saw him and got to give him a hug I felt like I could breathe again. Jay and I chose to read our vows privately because we are both very intimate and wanted to take that moment in for ourselves. It was the best decision we could have made!”
The season of engagement is such a sweet one. It’s full of excitement, wedding planning, and so much anticipation! “If there was any advice that we could give to those in the midst of planning it would be to soak it all up. Though it may seem like the day will never get here.. it will and when it gets there it flies by just as everyone says. I highly recommend asking for help from friends and family, and to not take everything as serious as it may seem. Everyone around you loves and cares about your big day – they will make sure everything is how you’d like, BUT do not be upset if one small thing goes wrong because at the end of the day it won’t matter. You will forget all about it the day after and laugh!”
