K + K
Woohoo, blogs are back baby! Welcome to our new website! We are so grateful + excited that you are here. We figured we would relaunch our blog with a day that was so special to us. Say hello to Katie + Kyle! After a long, stormy winter season, K + K’s spring wedding brought so much color back into our space! Being a part of their celebration was so refreshing + light. They are the warmest people, which showed through every detail of their wedding day. We’ll always think back to this day so fondly!
Here’s their story - “Kyle and I met my first week in Fort Worth after I moved here straight from graduating college. He attended the church I came here to work for, and that first weekend we both ended up at the same birthday party. We had a brief introduction, then got to know each other slowly over random run-ins and hangouts. He asked me out after we spent a week together with friends in Belize, and the rest is history! We had a lot of ups and downs in dating and our journey to our wedding day was not easy, it was full of messy moments. It was marked by seasons of doubt and fear, indecision and insecurity – many moments of questioning if we would ever make it to the altar. We truly fought tooth and nail for years to get to our wedding day. And we firmly believe we got there by Jesus doing what only He could. And it made the wedding feel like such a sweet moment of rejoicing and celebration.”
We love hearing about what drew our couples to choosing The Emerson for their BEST DAY EVER! Here is what K + K had to say, “ah, so many things! We loved that it felt minimalist - like a clean slate, but that it also felt rich with texture and character. It's warm, like an intimate place you gather with close friends - and that's exactly what we wanted our day to be. Kyle actually didn't see the venue till after we booked it, and as soon as he stepped foot on the property he said it felt like home. And the people match the place - all so warm, genuine, intentional and kind. We could not love the Emerson more.”
We would be lying if we said that our eyes didn't fill with tears a little bit while we read through K + K’s favorite moments from their wedding day. We admire how present they remained throughout the whole day! “There are so many moments we want to hold onto forever! Our first look filled with deep exhales and the happiest tears. Worshipping with our best friends before the ceremony to a song that has become an anthem for us. Getting tangled in streamers walking back down the aisle and belly laughing and trudging our way out of the chapel. Reading a prayer of thanks to our friends and family who fought for us and rejoiced with us every step of the way. Every moment, planned and unplanned, felt special and wrapped in so much love.”
Advice to those planning now: “We came up with four words we wanted our day to be for us and for others, and used them as our north star throughout the whole process: worshipful, peaceful, unhurried, and fun. So many times these words helped us keep things in perspective. I've seen more than my fair share of weddings as a photographer, and it's easy to feel the pressure of wanting things to be perfect or noteworthy. But make your truest self shine on your wedding day and you really can't go wrong. Get the ice cream you love. Ask for the colorful, wild florals. Grab a pair of comfy sneakers. Don't get too caught up in the nitty gritty details, what you remember most will be the pockets you create for fun and worship and whatever makes your heart beat fast.”
