M + L
Meet Matt + Livija! Two of the sweetest, kindest, most beautiful people you will ever meet! Every detail from their wedding day this past fall was literal perfection. They truly thought of everything! From the fun pops of color + stunning floral installations all the way to the late night snacks + epic dance party, the whole day felt like a dream oasis that we never wanted to end.
When it came to sharing their story, M + L went above and beyond! Not only did they share how they met, they shared the highlights from their first date + even some insider details from their proposal story! We found ourselves smiling + laughing as we read through their journey together as a couple. It’s pretty much guaranteed that you'll fall in love with them too!
Here’s their story - “We used to tell people that we met through "mutual friends'', but we finally accepted it and came clean...we both swiped right on Tinder. For our first date, to make sure neither of us were getting cat-fished, we agreed to meet up at Footsy Magoos's (Troy, NY) on a rainy Wednesday night for drinks. This was the night that we both fell in love with the Blueberry-Coffee cocktail. Matt’s favorite moment from their first date: It sounds cliche, but it was the moment she walked into the bar and her smile lit up the room. Liv’s favorite moment from their first date: Walking in to see him anxiously waiting at a secluded corner table. I'm usually the first one to arrive, so I loved that he was there waiting with a grin that took up his entire face.”
The Proposal - “On our way from Sedona to our AirBnB in Kanab, UT we stopped by an absolutely packed Horseshoe Bend to "see the bend near sunset" (which turned out to just be an excuse for Matthew to scope out the area for a perfect proposal spot). The next morning, we woke up at 3am to play with the dogs and pack for the day before we started on our 2 hour drive back to Page, AZ. We arrived at Horseshoe Bend and were so excited to find that we were the first car in the lot. We made the 10 minute hike down to the observation area and enjoyed the amazing view that we had all to ourselves. Eventually more and more people started showing up so Matthew suggested that we venture off the beaten path a little and get to a place where it was just the two of us for "pictures". Livija found a spot for Matthew to take some pictures of her looking out over the river and as she turned around she saw Matthew down on one knee. The first words out of his mouth were "Livija...you need to promise me you aren't going to fall backwards over the cliff..."
“We were drawn to The Emerson for a number of reasons. Initially, Livija's sister (who she looks up to in regards to taste and design) sent us the venue after finding it on Instagram. It turned out to be the first (and ultimately, only) venue we visited. Following that initial visit and tour, we immediately knew that we HAD to get married there and booked it right away. We are both faith focused and love the minimalist chapel that gave our ceremony a faith focused feel, while still allowing us to have an "all in one" venue for the reception to follow. The unique character that The Emerson property presents is truly one of a kind. We were also blown away throughout the process of the kindness and personal touch and love that The Emerson staff/ownership exhibited throughout our journey was truly amazing and we will never forget that.”
It comes as no surprise that this gorgeous wedding day carried so many special, magical moments. M’s favorite part of the day was “seeing how happy and excited Livija was at each and every moment throughout the night. The stress and let-downs leading up to the wedding between covid and vendor cancellations, it was all worth it for the amazing day and smile that Livija had as we celebrated the start of our next chapter. L's favorite part of the day was “seeing my vendors in person again/for the first time. To me, aside from finally marrying the love of my life, and all of our friends and family that traveled to Texas to celebrate us, it was our vendors that made the day so special. Having our wedding postponed a year gave us the opportunity to really get to know our vendors and for them to get to know us. Getting to know us and the rough road it took to lead us to this point, our vendors gave their best efforts to make us feel special and not because they had to, but because they wanted to. It made me feel so loved and supported. I remember saying over and over that day about the amount of love I felt from everyone, and for that I couldn't be more grateful.”
Advice for people planning now: “Schedule time during your wedding where you aren't supposed to be doing anything besides soaking in the moments of the day, literally put that into the schedule or ask your planner/a family member to remind you to stop and just soak in moments throughout the night. The old saying of "it goes by so fast" is an understatement, but before we knew it, our last song was playing and the night was over.”
Congratulations again M + L! Your wedding day is one that we wouldn’t mind doing all over again (& again). Thank you for choosing us to be a part of your BEST DAY EVER! Another big thank you goes to all the lovely vendors who were so intentional in walking alongside M + L and making their special day such a memorable one!
