E + C
It didn’t take us long to fall in love with Emma + Caleb. They are so kind + their personalities were so magnetic! Their wedding day was so much fun to be a part of! Every detail was intentionally thought of + overall was such a sweet reflection of their relationship! We also learned that only the best love stories begin with “How do you make an Octopus laugh?”
“Emma, who was just starting her junior year of undergrad at the University of Arkansas, missed the first SEC football game of the season to fly across the country to meet Caleb for the first time – she was promised a river float trip and plenty of hiking in Colorado, so she figured even if it didn’t work out, it was worth it. (Plus the hogs ended up losing anyways, shocker) We were set up by our pals, Holly and Zach, who both assured us that we were meant to be together. They won title of best wingman/wingwoman ever after Emma originally left Caleb’s instagram DM unread. After Holly and Zach explained that she should give him a chance, she responded to his DM, “How do you make an octopus laugh?” Interesting approach.. From there, the first trip was planned, and after just one day of meeting we were dating. From there, it’s been quite a journey – dating long distance, breaking up, getting back together, to finally living in the same state! Caleb is in the United States Air Force and we know it won’t be long until we move again, but we are just happy to be together now and know that everywhere we go we will go as a team!”
When we asked E + C what drew them to choosing The Emerson for their BEST DAY EVER, they answered – “EVERYTHING? Emma is a wedding photographer and knew The Emerson was where she wanted to get married before ever actually seeing the place in-person. We love the relaxed feel of the renovated house, with the beauty and details scattered throughout. The chapel is stunning and we felt it was the perfect place to read our vows with our loved ones around. While we hope to have 150+ people at our wedding, The Emerson has such an intimate feel to it. As a DFW photographer Emma truly feels that The Emerson is unique from all other spaces she’s shot at in the area.”
“Our favorite part of our wedding day was the ceremony. Other friends that have been married had hyped up the first look and the last dance, and while those were so special, our wedding ceremony was more intimate than we could have ever imagined. Caleb’s best childhood friend, Kevin, spent so much time making the ceremony so beautiful and personal for us. Reading our own vows and sharing communion were important to us, and doing both in front of our loved ones was so powerful. You think you won’t cry.. but then you do. Like a hundred times… haha.”
“Advice to those planning now would be to use your wedding to share who you are as a couple with your guests and don’t be afraid to break tradition. We got coffee together in downtown Dallas the morning of the wedding and it was the perfect way to ground each other before the emotions and craziness of the day took over. We ended up including everyone in our “private last dance.” We did a “send off” but then came back to dance more afterwards! Our table numbers corresponded with songs that were meaningful to our relationship and we linked them all to a Spotify playlist. Emma wanted white bridesmaid dresses. We did a T-shirt toss instead of bouquet and garter toss. Don’t be afraid to be creative with the details of your day, if that’s something that’s important to you. As a couple that dated long distance for years and were raised on different sides of the country, a lot of our guests were coming together for the very first time so incorporating our story was a great way to piece everything together and help make connections.”
