Bridget + Joel’s wedding day held SO much. From the timeless, feminine details + the greenery adorned Chapel, to the magical, rainy reception – it couldn’t have been more beautiful!
Here’s their story – “We met during our freshman year of college at The University of Nebraska (go big red!!) at Fellowship of Christian Athletes. We dated throughout college and in July of 2019, Joel proposed. When COVID happened, our wedding plans were halted. We postponed our big celebration and got married with 8 people in attendance. It was beautiful and intimate and we wouldn’t trade it for anything. Fast forward to 2021- we were able to bring our original wedding vision to life after an amazing year of marriage and it was truly one of the coolest experiences ever. We are forever thankful for the love of Christ that brought us together and the wonderful gift of marriage.”
“I always wanted to get married in a little white chapel, so when I stumbled upon pictures of The Emerson’s chapel, I was in love. When we toured, we both knew there was something special about The Emerson and their staff. We fell in love with the classic and timeless, yet modern feel of the venue. After we booked our date, every single time we visited, we got more giddy about our day. There are so many little details and thoughtful additions that make The Emerson the perfect place to get married!”
After waiting a whole year to celebrate their marriage with all their friends + family, we knew that B + J’s wedding day would carry so many special moments for the two of them. Here are some that they cherished the most from their wedding – “Two moments stand out in particular. During our ceremony, we had our dear friend and leader of FCA at Nebraska share our story and share The Gospel. It was such an intimate and powerful moment that we shared with our closest friends and family. The second moment was when we sat down for the reception. It made us both teary-eyed to finally see our wedding vision come to life. It was the sweetest sight to see our people celebrating with us!”
It is so easy to get carried away or overwhelmed during the wedding planning process. We loved B + J’s advice to those who are currently planning – “Our advice would be to stay true to what you want your wedding day to look like. Everyone’s style is different, so let your wedding be a true reflection of your unique love story. Also – I know it sounds so cliché, but don’t sweat the small stuff on your wedding day. You’ve probably spent months planning every little detail. Hire a team of vendors you trust so you can take the days leading up to your wedding to soak it all in. It ended up raining on our wedding day and as soon as I stopped stressing about the forecast, we were able to enjoy the beautiful, candle-lit dinner and dance the night away. We wouldn’t have planned it any other way!”
