Meet Kelsie + Mason! This day holds an extra special place in our hearts! K serves as the Head of Content Creation + Branding here at The Emerson and M used to be one of our go-to guys for projects around the venue! We’ve had the joy of being a part of so many parts of their love story and this weekend just so happens to be their first wedding anniversary! So naturally, we had to feature their BEST DAY EVER on the blog this week! 🤍
Here’s their love story - M says, “Kels and I met while working at E. I guess you could say our story started in the warehouse. We spent a whole day working out there filled with lots of questions and getting to know each other. She’ll have everyone think I invited her over for a movie (COVID times), but I do believe she suggested we watch a movie together. That night was filled with intentional talk and lots of fun. About 10 months later or so we were engaged! We met at E, got engaged at E, and got married at E. You could say The Emerson is the home of our love story.” K says, “In 2016 I was a part of a college bible study and a friend told me that a guy named Mason was coming for the first time. He told me he was a firefighter in Forney, a good guy, and he was “easy on the eyes” ... SO OF COURSE I kept my eye out for him. Nothing came from it except me following + friending him on Insta and Facebook (of course) we didn't even talk to each other that night. But honestly I am so thankful the Lord knows best and his timing is always perfect.. Early 2020 - My bosses Natalie + Lindsey mentioned to me about hiring this guy who was (once again) a firefighter, great guy, has a great family, and was pretty handsome - it was Mason. I remember seeing him at CG, following him after and seeing his life in glimpses throughout the last four years on socials and I was definitely intrigued. Mason started working part time at The Emerson and I did anything and everything to get the chance to work with or around him. I knew pretty quickly that I was interested and knew something so sweet was to come of this.. I was so confident in our future that I somehow got this boy to ask me out. It was right at the start of COVID and everything was shut down, so we made pizza and watched a scary movie. To be honest, throughout the date I questioned if Mase was even interested in me and if I had read it all wrong.. He had sat pretty far from me and didn’t even hold my hand. I was wrong. After the movie, Mason and I had the most intentional conversation I had ever had about expectations, intentions, where we were both at, and where we wanted this thing to go.. He even asked if he could hold my hand ;) Mason then sweetly pursued me, spent intentional time getting to know me, was thoughtful + creative in planning quarantine dates, and everything fell into place. Throughout 2020-2021, We fell hard + we fell fast. It was the sweetest dating season! Full of love, pursuit, intentionality, grace, lots of dance parties, sweet notes, learning how to be the best team, a LOT of laughs, and growing together. Mason Timothy Atkins. You are my best friend. I am so thankful God knew exactly when to cross our paths again. You encourage me to be everything He created me to be and I love walking alongside you to further his Kingdom growing with you always. I love being married to you and I'm so in love with you!!”
We felt so fortunate to walk so closely beside K + M during their engagement season, so it just felt right that they would exchange their vows in the very place that they met! Here’s what drew them to choosing us for their best day - “Just all of our previous history there. The owners Nat and Linds are two of the most incredible people. They love wholeheartedly and intentionally, and they make The Emerson what it is. As of the aesthetic of The Emerson, it is the perfect blank canvas to allow our vision and dreams be an accent to. Every detail of the space is clean and modern and intentionally designed. We felt so honored to continue our story in this space. It has truly brought so much goodness into our lives and continues to do so.”
There was no shortage of magic on this very special day! M shared some of his favorite moments from their wedding day last year - “I’d say getting ready with my best friends and spending that time with them. The first look and getting to see Kels and all her beauty, I mean 😍. Then all the speeches and just the absolute party that ensued afterwards. I truly truly loved everything about that day. I think just getting to share the love of our friends and family with my wife was a lot of fun.” K says, “I have dreamed of this day since I knew M was the one God had for me. It was so much fun to be able to create a vision for our day and watch it get executed so beautifully. I loved spending the morning eating breakfast with my girls, arriving at the venue and feeling so much joy and peace, writing my vows that I would soon read to my almost husband, then seeing him for the first time (we both cried like babies and it was just the sweetest moment.) making forever promises to each other, and then becoming husband and wife!! It was so special being loved and celebrated all night by all of our favorite people (and tearing up that dance floor! S/O Jeff from Forerunner Entertainment!!) I would relive this day over and over again with Mason if I could. It will forever hold a special place in our hearts.”
M’s advice to those who are in the midst of wedding planning - “I’d say enjoy everything about the engagement season. It goes by quicker than you think and it’s a very, very sweet season. Then I’d say not to stress your wedding day. Yes, the aesthetic, set up, and details are important, but what you’re gonna remember most is the people and fun you’ll have. Having people who love you and want to celebrate you is what will make it all incredible.” K’s advice is, “Yes, executing your dream wedding is exciting and so fun (also stressful at times) but my advice to anyone getting married is to stop yourself when you feel stressed or overwhelmed, pause, and remember what your wedding day is about - you are about to marry the love. of. your. life!!! At the end of the day, that’s what it’s all about. Marriage is the stinking sweetest. I can’t wait for all of you to experience it. We are forever rooting you all on and are praying over your marriage!”
Congratulations again, K + M! We feel the stinkin’ luckiest that we got to be so interwoven in your story + that we got the honor of witnessing so many of your special moments together! Celebrating you two is easy + we would do it all over again in a heartbeat! We have the fullest belief that the best, most beautiful years are ahead of you! We cannot wait to continue to walk alongside you. WE LOVE YOU!!!
