J + K
Okay, let us paint you a picture – It was a beautiful Sunday in April, “A Sunday Kind of Love” was playing on vinyl throughout the day, there was a rainbow in the sky, Twelve Coffee Cart was serving up lattes, Cane Rosso catered dinner, and the most lovely couple of all time became husband + wife… Sound like the absolute BEST DAY EVER!? Well it was!!! Our hearts are still SO full from getting to host Jordan + Kendrick’s wedding in our space this past Spring!
Here’s their story – “Extraordinary things in ordinary places. That’s how I like to start it. Jordan and I first met here in Arizona. We were both enrolled to attend the same college at the time; both leaving our families and friends behind to experience something entirely new. Jordan and I’s first interaction was through Instagram. She gave me a follow on Instagram and I saw that she we would be attending the same school and gave her a follow back. During move-day, we shared a few messages here and there about what we would be studying and where we’d be living. Our first time meeting in person was at a social event. She walked in. I stood. We hugged. And that was that. Later that evening, she came up to me and asked me why I felt led to make the big move. I remember talking (maybe a little too much) about my heartbeat of making the move from Lousiana and why I felt that I was exactly where I was supposed to be. As we transitioned into school, I would often see Jordan, but from afar. I remember admiring how she carried herself so maturely and as if she knew exactly who she was and what she desired in life. Not only was she beautiful, she was also bold….courageous. Genuinely herself. One moment that captivated me most was when I witnessed Jordan boldly walk in front of our class one day and encourage someone in the room. The girl she was encouraging was sitting right behind me so in a way you could say I had a front row seat of seeing her passionate, full of love, and the heart of God. I told myself in the moment: I’m going to marry this girl. After that, I began to be so curious about Jordan; wanting to know more about who she was, her story, her passions & dreams. I remember getting tacos with both of our roommates at the time and hearing all about her childhood and what she’s learned about herself over the years. I was captivated. Inspired. Most of all, I was encouraged at how both of our upbringings involved some level of challenge to them that ultimately made us who we are now and who we’re continuing to become in Christ. The more curious I became, the more my heart wanted to know her. Friends would tell me she really liked me. I didn’t believe it for a second. “She’s out of my league”. Overtime, Jordan and I became best friends. We hung out together with friends. We sat together during lunch. We embraced community together and learned new things together. On December 31st 2019, I asked Jordan to be my girlfriend on our first date: a day trip to Sedona, Arizona. We ended the night with pizza and the NYE 2020 countdown that left us with all the laughs. Since then, Jordan, now my fiancé and future bride, continues to captivate me. Moment by moment. Seasons in and seasons out. Learning to dance in rhythm and in time with you is an out of this world kind of love. We were us then. We are us now. We share in the joy of the us to come. Our forever amen.”
When we asked J + K what drew them to our venue they responded with, “Timeless. Quaint. A space to cultivate and host friends and family like we will in our future home. It’s these qualities that drew us to The Emerson. Jordan and I live for all things simple that create a blank canvas for the color that is moments experienced and moments shared. With that in mind and in heart, there’s was no better choice.”
“Our favorite part of our wedding day was our reception! We decided to do a sweetheart table, and there was something so special about getting to look out and see all of our closest friends and family in one space & to see all of the elements of our day we had dreamt of come to life was just so special!” J + K’s wedding day held so much intentionality – from the grateful posture of their hearts, the custom canvas signage that was adorned across the venue, to the sweet friends + family that surrounded them. It was all so special to witness!
J had some really kind things to say about their vendor team – “We would love to brag on Cane Rosso (OH MYYY). If your thinking about having pizza at your wedding, they are the ones! Absolutely incredible, fresh, and timely. They served us so well. & Twelve Coffee Cart – Coffee is our absolute favorite, so having it on our wedding day was an absolute! We love how it brings people together. When we were searching for a coffee vendor, we loved how Twelve Coffee Cart presented themselves, and that they were a newly found small business. They made our day even sweeter!” Check out the rest of the team below!
