Meet Hannah + Ricky! One of the things that we admire the most about them is how they made sure their wedding day felt like them. They weren’t swayed by current trends, they invested in great vendors, and they stayed authentic to themselves. We think this makes for the sweetest of ways to celebrate! They also really made it a point to soak in every moment of their BEST DAY EVER. Check out their love story, favorite moments from their wedding day, and some great advice for those who are currently in the middle of wedding planning now!
Here’s their story – “Ricky and I first started dating back in 2012 when we were in high school. He was the cute boy assigned to the seat in front of me in our German class. Not sure why I chose that class out of all the languages offered, and he was thrown into the class last minute, so it kinda felt like fate. (Super cheesy, I know.) We dated for close to 3 years until Ricky moved away for college. I still had 2 more years of high school and wasn’t sure the distance would work for us. The years went by, we met new people, moved to new cities, and grew up. During that time we didn’t speak much, only catching up on a few occasions. In 2017 Ricky called me out of the blue, just needing a friend to talk to. We began texting/calling each other more often and visiting one another when home from college. Over the next few months our friendship began to blossom and eventually led to us getting back together. Now we have been back together for 4 years and happily married since November 20th!”
Here’s what drew them to The Emerson – “THE CHAPEL. I had been searching venues online and looking up instagram accounts, and when I saw the chapel…. I was in LOVE. The venue as a whole is the perfect blank slate, yet has so much character, making it the most versatile for any style wedding. The design ideas are endless.”
We loved hearing about which moments H took inventory of + cherished throughout their beautiful wedding day this past November. Here are a few that stuck out the most to her – “getting ready with my girls and sneaking out to see the last year of planning come to life; quiet moment in the house with my dad while the catering team was putting trays together, the ceremony had already started and we were waiting our turn to walk down the aisle; having the whole wedding party surround Ricky, Chad, and I while we signed the marriage license in the bridal suite; practicing our first dance silently in the reception space before being introduced for the first time; dancing the night away on the dance floor with all the people we love. There are so many great pictures from the dance floor.”
H had such valuable advice for everyone who is in the middle of planning right now – “At each wedding festivity, shower, rehearsal, day-of, etc. SOAK IN EVERYTHING. Cherish each moment and really be as present as possible. It will all fly by so quickly. No matter what goes wrong, because something always will, you will still be just as married by the end of it. Take it as it comes and try not to stress too much. Don’t be afraid to ignore what’s considered “trendy”, if you like it, that’s great! But if you like something that’s not necessarily the most popular at the moment, who cares! It’s your day and you won’t regret doing what you like versus what’s “in.” Be authentic to yourself. :)”
