Meet Alex + Mandy! They were so insanely sweet and celebrating their love came so easy. Their intimate fall wedding was full of golden, honey-hued details and whimsical floral moments. We felt so honored + inspired working alongside the vendors they chose for their wedding.
Here’s their story – “We met in May 2017 as summer interns at a Silicon Valley-based law firm. To say “we were not expecting to find love that summer” would be a major understatement. But, as Alex would tell it, “we have Lebron James to thank” for where we are today. The 2017 NBA Finals matched up Mandy’s Golden State Warriors against Alex’s Cleveland Cavaliers. Unable to resist some friendly trash-talking, we would meet up after work with some co-workers to watch the games together at a local sports bar. During commercial breaks and after the games, our competitive banter would seamlessly transition into deeper conversations, and we quickly discovered we had so much more in common than a shared love of basketball. After the Finals games ended, and our excuse to hang out together was gone, Alex finally asked Mandy on a date. We’ve been inseparable ever since! When the summer was over, Alex went back to Duke and Mandy went back to Georgetown to finish law school. But the distance couldn’t keep us apart, as we ended up flying or driving to see each other nearly every other weekend. The following summer we moved-in together to study for the CA Bar Exam and then set off on a 12-week trip around the world before starting our jobs. In May 2019, Alex popped the question at the Allied Arts Guild in Menlo Park, CA, a beautiful garden near where we lived, before whisking Mandy away for the weekend to her favorite place on earth: Disneyland. Since then, we’ve moved to Frisco, studied for and passed yet another bar exam together, planned (and then replanned) a wedding in a pandemic, and finally got married on September 26, 2021. It has been a crazy, beautiful ride from the beginning, and we’re loving finally living life as husband and wife!”

Here’s what drew A + M to choosing The Emerson for their BEST DAY EVER – “We were originally supposed to have a large wedding in Santa Barbara, California in October 2020, but when the pandemic hit, CA shut weddings down completely. After pushing our wedding date out by a year and entering 2021 with no end in sight to the pandemic or CA shutdowns, we decided we needed to rethink our wedding plans and opt for something smaller and in Texas instead to bring the joy back to wedding planning. We searched all over DFW for a wedding venue that would feel like “us” and wouldn’t feel too large for our small wedding of family and close friends. When we found The Emerson, we knew nothing else compared. The simple but stunning white chapel, cozy indoor reception space and beautiful modern touches just blew us away. We loved it even more than our original wedding venue in Santa Barbara!”
“Our wedding day was pure bliss from start to finish, so it’s hard to pick just one favorite moment, but one that we talk about often is our private last dance. Once everyone had exited the venue except us, our DJ/Musician (Jeremiah of It’s Your Night Entertainment) sang a beautiful acoustic guitar rendition of “Simply the Best” while we danced in our reception space one last time by candlelight. Getting that last moment alone together to soak in all of the beauty of the day was just so magical.”
We loved A + M’s advice for all of those who are planning now! “Trust that no matter what happens, your wedding day will be absolutely perfect exactly as it happens. We completely re-planned our wedding 7 months out from our postponed date, almost all of Alex’s extended family that was stuck in Australia due to border closures, and our Best Man got COVID 3 days before the wedding and couldn’t attend, just to name a few of the bumps along the way. We were exhausted by the time the wedding finally came around. But, once the wedding weekend arrived, every minute was amazing and we truly couldn’t have imagined a better wedding day.”
