Meet Megan + Grayson! They are a dream couple through + through! We adored them the moment that we met them + we were so honored that they decided to spend their best day ever with us at The Emerson! They brought so much color + so much life into our space!
Here’s their love story - “Grayson and I met through our church! My friend got us invited to a game night with a group of guys from our church-did we want to go be social that night? No. Did we go anyway in hopes of meeting our future husbands like we'd joke about every social gathering for years? Yep. And I'm so glad we did. My friends and I hit it off with two guys there that were roommates, and we all quickly became good friends. I thought that Grayson was the nicest guy I’d ever met, a really really solid guy....friend. He was quirky (cleanest boy’s car and room I’ve EVER seen in my life), intentional, and really, really funny and witty. It was so evident that he loved the Lord, and he was so kind to everyone. I’ve never been one to have many guy friends, I’ve always been more comfortable around girls, but Grayson was different. I was immediately comfortable around him. I found (as my friends were VERY quick to point out) myself naturally gravitating towards him whenever we were all together. One day he called me and asked me out, and I've never looked back since. As an anxious person, I’ve always wondered how I would know I’ve found the person I would marry. Anyone in my life can attest that I’m indecisive on choosing what color tennis shoes to buy, so choosing who I want to commit myself to for the rest of my life felt like it would be an impossible decision. But then came Grayson. I’m anxious about almost every decision in my life, but not about Grayson. Slowly, I simply couldn’t see my life without Grayson in it. He was comfortable, he was consistent, and he was safe. I think I fell in love with Grayson in the small moments, his quiet confidence and his steadfastness as he pursued me, even when I didn’t make it easy for him. Grayson is my role model in grace, he is slow to anger and quick to forgive, I’ve seen that time and time again, and I love that about him. I fell in love with Grayson in some of the hard moments, when our imperfections showed and hurt one another, and I was always met with humility, patience, and grace. It was in those moments I saw Grayson’s character and knew that his presence added so much value to my life. Lastly, I fell in love with Grayson in the fun moments. Grayson is smart, and he’s witty, and his ability to laugh and make others laugh is one of my favorite things about him. I fell in love with the mundane moments of jokes and banter we have have together. I fell in love with Grayson when I realized he was my best friend, we are better together than we are alone, and that he makes me a better person and a better daughter of God.”
What drew M + G to choosing us for their big day - “The Emerson was the only place we toured :) I saw it online and instantly fell in love with the simple, modern, and cozy home feeling it gave. As soon as I saw it in person I knew it was the venue for us! It has the perfect mix of outside and inside space, and it is spacious but small enough to feel intimate! Who doesn't love dancing under the stars and twinkly lights!”
Watching couples take the monumental step into marriage is something we’ll never take for granted! We love getting to hear which parts of marriage our couples are most excited to experience together! Here’s what M said! “I look forward to doing the mundane of life with Grayson. I want to go on adventures, travel, sit on our couch and binge shows, make dinner together, bike together, fight, forgive, pray, and laugh together. I am excited to cheer Grayson on in every season of life. I am so excited that I get Grayson as my teammate, partner, roommate, and best friend for the rest of our days. I’m so excited to make really big and really small decisions together. I’m excited to be a family with Grayson and watch as it grows however the Lord leads us. My favorite thing about Grayson is his faith in the Lord, and I am honored that I get to be his partner as we serve the Lord together. I have learned so much from Grayson, he encourages me, he challenges me, and he refines me. It’s the honor of my life to watch the Lord work in Grayson, work in me, and work in us together. I have a fuller understanding of the Lord’s character because of Grayson, and I am overjoyed I get to keep learning for the rest of my life. I realize there’s so much unknown about our future, but it doesn’t scare me knowing the Lord has gone before us and Grayson will be next to me.”
