E + N

Meet Emilie + Nicholas! These two cuties had the most infectious, joyful spirits! We loved getting to serve + celebrate them on their big day! All of their friends + family joined them for the most beautiful brunch wedding this summer. Two of our favorites, Olive Coffee Cart + Vestals Catering served the yummiest coffee + treats, Lori from Florish Designs decked out our space in the happiest blooms, and we couldn’t be more in love with how everything came together!

Here’s their love story - “After a semester of seeing each other at community group and working at coffee shops, I brought Nicholas Merit Coffee before his physics final exam. We talked throughout Christmas break, up until a very snowy and cold trip to Marfa with our friends. On the drive, we started talking about all the things we had been learning over the semester. Right as I started back to school for the Spring Semester, Nicholas called after CASA training one night—he sounded so nervous—and asked if I wanted to go on a date. I said yes before he got the question all the way out—he sounded surprised (He was the only one who didn’t know how much I liked him). So, we went on our first date. Nicholas picked me up from my house on 37th Street, and we headed to dinner (and we heard all my lovely roommates, now bridesmaids, scream as he opened the car door for me). Nicholas was surprising me with the restaurant, and he decided to drive without using Google Maps; after passing just about every restaurant I thought we might go to, I asked where he was taking me. He said Loro, which we had passed about 10 minutes before. After getting there, we ended up sitting at Loro talking for six hours! Two days later, Nicholas called to ask me on another date. This one was my favorite. Nicholas and I picked up Fresas’ Brussels Sprouts tacos and had a picnic by the lake. Afterwards, we went kayaking—it was Nicholas’ first time! After kayaking, neither of us wanted the date to end, so we grabbed smoothies and walked around the lake until it got dark. And then, a few days later—February 7th, Superbowl Sunday, the day my dog died—after a bike ride and tacos, Nicholas asked me to be his girlfriend. The following semester was filled with hours talking and drinking tea on my balcony, painting and applying to jobs in Nicholas’ art studio, and eating so much good food. We talked about Beauty, and writing, and art, books by Mako Fujimura that we loved, and how to love the world through the things we loved to make. We started talking about marriage in July on a paddleboard in the middle of little New Hampshire lake. Soon after, we started dating long distance and the busy routine of trading off weekends driving to see each other. And now, after so many FaceTime calls and late-night Pad Thai picnics, laughter and tears, we’re planning a wedding!”

What drew E + N to choosing The Emerson for their best day - “We absolutely loved the simplicity and comfort of the venue. After visiting and experiencing the hospitality of all of the Emerson staff we met, we knew we were done looking--The Emerson was the first and only place we visited. After getting in the car, Nicholas said, "Okay, I think we're done looking."“

Congratulations again E + N! We loved getting to be a part of celebrating your big day! We hope marriage has been so sweet + vibrant!
